In Maart 2011 het Umalusi, die agentskap verantwoordelik vir kwaliteit van matriek in Suid-Afrika, die Nasionale Senior Sertifikaat vir Volwassenes (NSSV) kwalifikasie voorgelê aan die minister van hoër onderwys.
